What is the
Great Salem Race?
The Great Salem Race is a family-friendly event and is your opportunity to experience the city like never before. You'll receive a list of clues to solve to find locations throughout the downtown area. You'll have quick challenges to complete at each location.
Teams often choose to dress up in coordinated costumes for fun! What will be your team's theme?
Who can race?
Families, friends, co-workers, young professionals, churches, youth groups, sports teams, clubs, and businesses are all encouraged to participate in this event!
Groups of 2-4 participants per team will compete. This is a public event and kids are encouraged to join!
There will be approximately 3-5 miles traveled by foot and a party to celebrate after! Age of child participants is up to parental discretion. Casual division course will be shorter.

Competitive Division
Eager for a challenge?
This classic division awards First, Second and Third Place Finishes who complete all clues and challenges in the shortest amount of time. Be prepared to test your wits with this year's competitive division!
This race will be roughly 3-5 miles and has the toughest clues. Regardless of placement, this race is sure to be rewarding.
Casual Division
Looking for a fun clue-solving experience without having to break a sweat?
This new division (replacing the previous family division) removes the pressure of trophies and placement and instead focuses on the excitement of clue-solving with a more laid-back atmosphere.
With fewer locations to visit but more riddles to solve, you'll cover less distance but have no less fun.

The Great Salem Race is organized by the Salem Young Professionals, a program of the Inspire Foundation. As the workforce development arm of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, the Inspire Foundation exists to develop the leadership potential of Salem area students and business professionals. All proceeds of the Great Salem Race will go towards accomplishing the mission of the Inspire Foundation and supporting the Salem Young Professionals program.
