Role overview: The Patient Partner will serve in an advisory role to assist the research team with the development of qualitative questions to further a research project that is looking at the experiences of Saskatchewan BIPOC with the health care system. The Patient Partners will be working with the research team to develop immersive technology tools that will ultimately be used by students and other health care professionals to assist with training purposes. The patient partner can share their experiences, perceptions of virtual reality use and look at issues of using virtual reality tools. We would welcome their support at the end of the project with presenting findings at conferences, reviewing any written work.  
 
Knowledge, experience, skills required: We are looking for members of the BIPOC community who would like to work on educational tools that will be used by health care professionals to develop and learn things like communication skills and various cultural practices. Research activities will include meeting with Saskatchewan BIPOC members to understand their experiences around accessing health care and working towards developing scenarios that reflect these experiences in a realistic way so that health care professionals can learn from these situations. 

Time commitment: The project will start in January 2023 and is expected to finish by September 2023. Time commitment may be up to 5 hours, however it is expected to be about 2 to 3 hours a week. 
 
Location: Regina, Saskatoon or Virtual via Zoom
 
What you can expect from the research team: The research team will be setting up the meetings, outline where they can help and will provide regular updates on the status of the project. 
 
Supports available to participate: Expense reimbursement.
