There is a guy that submitted his story earlier that has a similar story to mine. His is a little more heart warming, but I'll try anyway. I live in a town with no disc golf course. There is one privately owned by a doctor about 40 miles away. I have been in touch with him but he hasn't let me play there yet. The next closest course is about 60 miles away in the exact opposite direction, across the state line, on a college campus that I'm not sure I'm suppose to be on. The closest public course is almost 200 miles away. The town I'm from is very skeptical about using funds on a course and is hesitant about trying new things, especially when they have the potential to get vandalized. I'm still barking up that tree. But in the meantime, my best option is to play at a local Park (playground/baseball field) and use trash cans, water fountains ect. As goals. But if there are people playing baseball or kids on the playground then I yield my right to play go home feeling unfulfilled. I built my own basket to practice putting in my yard, but it's heavy and hard to transport, not very practical to be bringing it along every time I play. I could really use a light weight basket that I could bring along for a couple shots at the park. Maybe get more people involved in order to create a demand in this boring town of mine. There is enough people here to support a course, but nothing to do. I just need some help giving people a little push to go out there and throw some discs.
