The other day my little girl took her first ballet class. Honestly it was an event that I wasn't sure would ever happen . My little girl , Mia , has Cerebral Palsy. A ballet class didn't exist for Mia - one had to be created. Mia is primarily wheelchair bound but in short spurts she can walk in her walker , called her Gait Trainer . That day in ballet class was one of the strongest days I had ever seen her . She threw all caution to the wind and with pride in her eyes she did " Mia's " ballet. As her mother I can't help be filled with a sense of accomplishment . Since Mia's was born and she suffered her brain injury resulting in her Cerebral Palsy I have tried to instill in her acceptance , pride and love of herself. True , she might be different but everone is different - somepeople are tall , some people are short , some people have Cerebral Palsy , our difference is what makes life beautiful. Showing my daughter I have pride in her and accept her completely is what the wheelchair heart symbol means to me . I know in teaching her that acceptance and love in herself she will live her life with confidence . I love the 3E symbol beacuse when I wear my " Proud Mom" shirt out in public is shows I am not afraid of daughter's disabilty instead I have pride in her accomplishments. 3E Love allows family members and friends of people with disablities a platform to help others to understand disabilty . It allows people who don't understand a bridge to ask the questions and get the correct answers. After all the more knowledge people have the more they can embrace diversity ,we are all people . I believe creating a positive social image about disabilty is a privilage and responsibilty and because of companies like 3E Love it is getting easier to spread a positive message . When I take my little girl out she smiles at everyone , waves and says "Hi ". She does not see herself as having a disabilty . She loves herself and life and I see people smile back at her, not looking at her wheelchair but at her and I am so proud .
