ShowInRoom enables customers to virtually preview the furniture in the interior in highly realistic 3D format, therefore eliminating doubts about color, size and a style match.
How does it work?
- print the marker
- place the marker it in the room, where dream furniture is supposed to be
- point your camera to the marker
- choose the model you like from the catalog
- now the furniture is available to play with: rotate and move it around easily
- take pictures to share them with your friends and family
- when the virtual redesign is done, you can place an order
Users can check different models, styles and colors and rest assured that when the furniture is delivered, it will completely satisfy their expectations. Only pleasant surprises!
Skylight is an augmented reality software platform that companies use to create smart glasses applications. The application was built by APX Labs, www.apx-labs.com.
Skylight is for business scenarios where you need hands-free, in-context, real time information right where work is getting done.
It is a complete system – it manages the user experience on the smart glasses itself and it is the back end platform which powers the business solution.
While most critical functions work out-of-the box, Skylight can be configured, customized and extended to your unique needs using the Skylight SDK.
Skylight works with a variety of devices, including single optic heads-up displays as well as next generation binocular transparent lens glasses. These units create amazing visual experiences, and with Skylight – they make what used to be impossible a reality today.

Metaio partnered with Epson America and Mitsubishi Electric to develop an application that would allow service technicians to access maintenance information quickly and conveniently and overlay it step-by-step onto the actual product. The Epson Moverio BT-200 allows hands-free, full-field view to make sure that the information gets overlaid directly in the mechanic's line of sight, rather than a monocular view or through a tablet device.

ANGELS (Augmented Network GEnerating Learning for Safety) is a system especially designed to help organizations improve efficiency in safety management by means of Augmented Reality guided procedures using mobile devices. The system is a risk prevention enabler initially developed and evaluated in the context of a European project by a consortium of partners in Italy, France, Spain and Czech Republic in the Healthcare industry.
The system is a cloud based platform which links together a web-based Admin client and several Mobile user clients. The Admin client allows safety managers to create Smart Environments out of the Hospital Departments thus adding relevant risk management information to areas in the Hospital. The information is coded by means of QR codes (choice motivated by the need of making the solution low-cost and scalable).
Features include:
- indoor navigation tools to identify areas of risk in the surrounding using AR and interactive maps
- creation of users profiles and possibility to associate specific tasks to selected users
- support for both synchronous and asynchronous communication
- support for different kinds of contents (text, audio, images, videos, 3D)
- alert system to manage priorities
- compliance with international risk management regulations
- Real time update of data related with the risks in the environment
- Assess the understanding of risks and procedures by users and managers
- Create structured, semi-structured and open training paths.
The system has been tested in the context of four pilot studies and four large scale trials in different European hospitals. In the opinion of involved operators it demonstrates a good to excellent usability. It also determines an improvement of the learning outcomes of the users.

http://www.applusrtd.com
Applus+ RTD is global leader in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) setting standards, developing technology and delivering the highest quality service to industry worldwide for more than 75 years. It delivers technical assurance by reducing risk and non-productive time through the provision of sample examination, giving a complete picture of the asset's condition.
IWEX
The RTD IWEX (Inverse Wave Field Extrapolation) is a NDT technique that allows detailed inspection and mapping of defects within critical pieces of pipework. It shows great potential in both defect detection and characterization, combined with a simplified presentation of inspection due to an imaging approach. The result is an actual image of the inspected volume, rather than a plot of the collected signals. It provides users with a 3D image of the inspected object, giving clearer insight into the scale and nature of any existing defects than is currently possible. Straightforward interpretation is less dependent on operator sills and calibration blocks. It could save operators millions of dollars by reducing the number of welds being rejected in new construction pipelines both onshore and offshore.
Using Augmented Reality
The system increases the probability of detection of defects within welds, more accurately detailing not only the characterization of faults but also its size and position. Applus+ analyses how this data is interpreted and handled by their operators. If the size and position of a defect is ambiguously interpreted, then incorrect and costly weld repairs may be the result. To increase efficiency and lower the risk of incorrect human interactions, Applus+ has started exploring AR resulting in an application that projects the linear IWEX generated digital image around the actual weld via Augmented Reality. The position of defects will therefore be unambiguously indicated on the pipe.
Children nowadays grow up with smartphones and tablet, offering multimedia experiences a book could never offer. Until now... ‘Alex the Astronaut’ is a children’s book with a futuristic touch: augmented reality interactions. Scan the pages with your smartphone or tablet and the main characters jump on the pages in 3D. You can play hide and seek, sing and dance along with Gus the Guinnea Pig, and takes pictures with both of your new friends. All animations are interlinked with the story. And that is not all… the official Pedagogic Center was involved to make sure the storyline is top notch and fit to challenge youngster to identify emotions, talk about them and take their first steps in strategic decisions making. All under the radar, of course.
Alex The Astronaut was launched in Belgium in the beginning of April and made the national news on all channels and all major newspapers. Blog mums are wildly enthousiastic as well. You can download the free app for iphone, ipad and android by looking up ‘alex astro’ in Itunes and the play store. The markers for the games can be found on the website www.alex-astro.com. And whoever wants to receive a review copy of the book… just say the word (yeah@worldofwaw.com)!
The story of course… is about a little boy: Alex. Alex and Gus the guinea-pig are the best friends in the whole wide world. They live in a house in a big city. When the weather is nice, they go outside and play in the yard. One day, Gus doesn’t wake up. “Carl is a little star in the sky now”, mum tells him. “He will always be near you. And he will always see you. But he’s not coming back.”
Alex is very sad. He wants to visit Gus! To do so, Alex has to become an astronaut.
And then … the sky is the limit!

Rexel Group with 2,300 branches in 37 countries is global market leader in electrical engineering products.
Rexel works with qualified installers offering systems for solar energy. It supports their installers with knowledge, calculations and consistency in order to facilitate the sales process. Twnkls developed Rexel SmartSun, a salestool supporting their marketing team, sales reps and installers in the sales process.
SmartSun enables sales reps and installers to take clients through the sales process: to measure, real time configure, visualize on location, calculate the costs and pay-back time and create a proposal.
Using AR technology, the installer measures the roof of a building/house from the ground with an iPad. Not only is the surface of the roof being measured, the angle of the roof and the roof-orientation are also determined (based on the compass function).
After taking the measures, the sales rep configures the required solarenergy panels and installation and visualizes the expected situation. The selected solar panels are shown scaled and in the correct angle on the roof of the client.
Based on the chosen configuration and measurements of the roof, the App provides angle and orientation, and a complete overview of data relevant for the purchase. It contains price, anticipated energy benefit and the ROI. Together they form the basis of a customized proposal including a picture of the future Solar Panel installation.
The SmartSun App transforms the iPad into an accurate measurement tool, product catalogue and visualization tool. It reduces risks, saves time and becomes a complete and efficient sales kit on a tablet.
OctagonAR developed the AR Bullet Train App to give a virtual experience to governments/policy makers, investors and the general public. We present the technical details in a way which clearly shows what the end result will look like. This is important for approvals of feasibility studies and detailed designs. It allows the users to experience the product before it is delivered.
The AR Bullet Train app combines the power of augmented reality with highly accurate 3d models. We also incorporate gyroscope, video, and interactive tools to provide a complete virtual experience.
