François, the Dashing Croaker is the first of a series of Augmented Reality books from Emantras.

Developed by qualified teachers and a team of creative writers, artists and developers, François, the Dashing Croaker is the first in a series of AR apps that will bring books and technology together in a way that invokes a reader’s curiosity to explore. These books are paired to cover both a fictional story and related non-fictional educational content together in a seamless storyline.

When you launch the app, there are 5 buttons at the bottom of the screen: AR, Quiz, Dictionary, Frequency and Book. The following are the functional descriptions of the buttons:

AR: When this button is selected, and the camera is pointed at the book, the book is read out and the images are animated.

Quiz: When selected, questions on the story are asked, and the reader has to search through the book and point the camera at the section of the book containing the answer. An inset voice button (top right) is also provided for the question to be read out.

Dictionary: By selecting the dictionary the meaning and pronunciation for complex words can be accessed. Audio support is provided for the dictionary.

Frequency: The word frequency button is for educators and parents to monitor the how often a word is appearing the book. The user can select the word by choosing the frequency button and the touching the word on screen. A color menu then appears to show the frequency of the selected word.

Book: This button enables the user to email the PDF of the AR book to them self. From there, they will have to print it out and then use the app to point to the book for the AR feature to work.
