This app is for primary 6 students in Singapore to learn the new Chinese characters from their text book. Image recognition instead of traditional OCR technology is used to recognize the Chinese characters. Users can point the phone to the character in any orientation. About 300 hundred characters with pinyin on top are included. This app is created using the MIMAS platform at http://scholar-milk.i2r.a-star.edu.sg/mimas-v4/
To use the app, download the Snap2Tell app from Apple App Store. https://itunes.apple.com/sg/app/snap2tell/id632449681?mt=8 .Touch ‘Mandarin A*’ to start running.
Currently there is a bug on iPhone 5. An update has been submitted to App Store for Apple approval. People using iPhone 5 will have to wait for the update.
