  • Shangoo is a very simple app that shows weather forecast using Augmented Reality, its distinctive qualities are: the innovative user interface and the way the AR experience is implemented. Regarding the latter feature the developer wanted to show that even just using the 'old' gyro-compass tracking, a nice but convincing AR experience is still possible despite the advanced tracking methods available today...the point is: if you can do something easily then just do it and do it the easy way, that's what Shangoo is all about.
    Regarding the user interface the developer wanted to let the user change the time of the day using a 'clock' metaphor, that's the rationale behind the circular interface (hint: try to tap and drag the little dot all the way around to change the day forward/backward).
    Finally, social sharing is available via Twitter or Facebook: just rotate the device in landscape to show the 'capture & share' interface, take a photo and share it.

  • UK based Vector76 where commissioned to develop a dynamic AR experiential App for road safety campaign Road Respect, aimed at young drivers by local events company Independent Events. Using pop-up store's and designing a massive trigger image to simulate a car accessory store in retail malls such as the Intu MetroCentre Gateshead, the AR App was developed for iOS & Android along with an enterprise version that the Indy Events street team used to show passers by.

    The Vuforia fuelled app features a full-size car appearing to crash through the store-front window, this proved to be a highly effective way to engage with the campaigns demographic and mixed creativity and tech that resulted in much more than the sum of its parts. We put, over the images videos, images and audios that make the content plus attractive and accessible to people. Our strategy is to arrive to more public like young people (with the attractive of technology and multimedia content) or like people who has visual deficiencies (so as they can listen the content instead of read it). We use the Aurasma platform to achieve this strategy. We are the first and only religious institution that uses AR to communicate and improve the experience of reading a spiritual publication.   • HELL are a New Zealand Pizza chain that came to One Fat Sheep looking for an innovative new way to engage with their customers.Our solution was to connect 3D gaming with eating pizza and AR provided us with the technology to do that. Eating pizza and playing games is just a natural fit.

    Zombies from Hell is a 3D first person tower defence type game where the customer defends HELL stores across New Zealand from a marching zombie apocalypse.
    The AR user experience is central to the game design by encouraging players to zoom, orbit and pan around the pizza box to kill the zombies using a variety strategic branded weapons.
    Players could also log in to the game using their Hell account and with a high enough kill count they were rewarded with tasty Hell prizes in-game.
    The more you play the better the prizes. Once you’ve won a reward, redeem the voucher code with an online order and the next level will be unlocked and ready for you to play.
    The game includes an additional Zombie Shooting practice level for use on in-store promotional posters. As this is a vertical format the player defends the store from in-store point of view.

    The application was downloaded more than 24,000 times across iOS and Android platforms to date and was the 8th most downloaded app in New Zealand on launch week. ZFH was featured on 50+ blogs/websites over 8 countries. Subjects spanning across marketing, gaming and design. Overall the positive sentiment expressed towards the campaign across social media and in-store feedback coupled with the in-game mechanics ensured the campaign was increasing brand loyalty and driving sales.

    Big Birds Words, a collaboration by Trigger and Sesame Street Workshop, helps teach children how to read using Vuforia’s text recognition feature. Originally previewed at CES 2013, the augmented reality app recognizes thousands of words.
    Big Bird guides children through an illustrated ‘find the word’ activity and then prompts them to find the words in the real world using the app’s Word-O-Scope. When found, kids are shown how the word relates to others on a word tree screen.

    "Play the game and get free popcorn" - this is a motto of MaxiPara promotional campaign that was launched in 62 cinemas in 24 cities around Turkey.
    Augmented Pixels together with Empati Reklam agency created an interactive marketing campaign for İşbank (Turkey). The idea of the campaign was to promote MaxiPara Sinema Kart, a special edition of Visa prepaid cards at the Cinemaximum theatres, biggest cinema chain in Turkey. For this campaign Augmented Pixels released MaxiKoltuk, westen-style augmented reality game, aiming to provide user engagement at the cinemas before movies start. Visitors of the cinema were able to play the game in cinemas' auditoriums (markers were attached to the front seats) or got MaxiPara Card and use it as a marker everywhere. Points earned in the game could have been exchanged for free middle size popcorn.

    An immersive game used as a part of marketing campaign allowed creating addicting extraordinary experience for the cinema visitors and increase MaxiPara cards adoption. Using MaxiPara Sinema Kart as a marker led to increased brand recognition.

  • With smart glasses becoming more and more popular, and augmented reality applications serving as the basic interface for such devices- all that seems to be missing from this equation is an easy and natural way to interact with the content.
    We see use of “inherited” interaction tools such as remote controllers, touch panels (not direct interaction with the content) and voice control (not usable in noisy environment and inappropriate in quite public environments…), but so far we haven’t seen use of the most natural and direct interaction method for such devices and content- which is gesture based control.
