Do you dream of being a doctor in an Aboriginal Medical Service in rural Australia? Perhaps you’ve always seen yourself flying out to emergencies as part of the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Or maybe you see your future in a beachside community, helping the ‘locals’?
The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine is giving you the chance to live your dream through the annual prestigious President’s Prize.
The Prize:
The President’s Prize is a one to two week placement with a doctor, practice or health service in a rural or remote area of Australia. The College organises the accommodation, travel, expenses and a stipend, up to the total value of $2500.
The placement will occur at a time that is convenient for the winner and the selected location, but must be taken within 12 months of the prize being awarded, or it is forfeited.
How to enter:
The competition is open to medical students (Australian or NZ citizens) currently studying medicine in Australia.
To enter and be in the draw to win the $2,500 placement prize, you have to create a short video (up to 60 seconds) using your smartphone or camera saying where in rural or remote Australia you would like to be placed for a week - and why.
You must use the phrase ‘rural medicine’ twice and ‘Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine’ at least once.
Make it as funny or serious as you like – express yourself through a poem, a rap or even interpretive dance – just make sure you follow the rules above.
Your submitted video will be reviewed by College staff, prior to appearing on the website.
Judging:
Entries will be judged by representatives from the College. The decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. All entrants agree to allow ACRRM to post their entry on the ACRRM website and Facebook page for no fee.
The top three entries will be shown at the RMA2013 conference gala dinner, and then the winner will be announced. You do not have to be present at the conference to win the prize.
Entries close 11.59pm (EST) 27 October, 2013.
